Longthorne update
We hope you are all healthy and managing to keep fit and well during these difficult times. It makes us very sad indeed to think that many of you will have lost loved ones or may have been sick yourselves, if this is the case, we hope you make a full recovery very soon and our thoughts and condolences are with you.
To bring you up to date with developments, at Longthorne. It has been business as usual during the lockdown period, taking all the necessary distancing and hygiene precautions of course. Most of our team have been working during this period with only one furloughed. We have been very flexible with our workforce enabling them to accommodate child care and other family commitments. We are fortunate in having a spacious factory enabling staff to have their own section and maintain separation.
Our MD has remained at the factory whilst office and creative staff have worked from home.
Like any responsible business we have taken certain measures to reduce our costs during this unprecedented time, reducing our advertising for example, and several other costs deemed unnecessary at this time. Sadly we have also had one redundancy at supervisory level.
However, we have been extremely productive over the past few weeks completing national and international orders and designing and building our new range of boxlock guns ready for better times ahead whilst doing service work on guns so they are ‘season ready’. Production has been impaired slightly due to industries we rely on such as proofing and multichoking having been in 'lockdown' although we are finding that the situation is slowly regaining momentum.
We have also been completing our new website due to go live soon and our designer Chloe has been creating the next series of new boxlock designs.
We were bemused therefore to receive an email from a customer yesterday to say that she had received a telephone call from someone claiming we had ‘liquidated’. We are pleased to assure you that this is untrue. We would be grateful for any information enabling us to identify the perpetrator as we take misinformation like this very seriously and obviously this person needs enlightening, there is always someone wanting to rain on our parade!!
We thank you for your continued support, you make what we create worthwhile.
We also thank the NHS and vital workers who have helped keep their countries functioning during the past few weeks and we, as you are looking forward to the day when life returns to ‘normality’.
Keep healthy and safe
From all the Team at Longthorne
